Thoughtful adult psychiatric care for Dallas patients — evaluation and medication management by secure telehealth from SLS Psychiatry in Southlake.
Dallas is a city of long commutes, demanding workplaces, and a culture that tends to celebrate output more than reflection. Many of the adults who reach out to us from Dallas describe the same pressure — early meetings before the school run, the hour-long drive home from the Las Colinas office, after-hours emails that never quite stop. None of that causes a psychiatric condition on its own, but for someone already managing depression, anxiety, adult ADHD, or insomnia, that kind of grind makes recovery slower and relapses more likely.
Dallas also has one of the largest healthcare workforces in the country, and we frequently work with clinicians, nurses, and first responders whose own mental health has been quietly squeezed by the work. The point is that what's happening around you in Dallas matters, and a thoughtful psychiatric evaluation accounts for it.
Dallas is well-served on the medical side. UT Southwestern Medical Center, Baylor University Medical Center, Methodist Dallas, Texas Health Presbyterian, and Parkland Memorial anchor a deep hospital landscape, and the city's outpatient psychiatric capacity has grown along with the population.
Even so, finding a psychiatrist who has the time to do a careful first evaluation — and who can keep seeing you on a predictable cadence afterward — is harder than it should be. Many practices are at capacity. SLS Psychiatry is based in Southlake but treats adults across Texas via secure telehealth, which means a Dallas patient can be evaluated and managed from home, work, or a quiet office during a lunch break. We coordinate with primary care, OB-GYN, or sleep medicine in Dallas when that helps the plan.
A Dallas telehealth visit is a video call with the psychiatrist. You receive a secure link in advance. The only firm requirement is that you must be physically located in Texas at the time of the visit, since psychiatric care is licensure-bound — that is true whether you are at home in Lakewood, in a quiet parking lot near the Galleria, or in a private room at the office in Uptown.
Initial evaluations are 60–75 minutes; follow-ups are typically 20–50. We do not prescribe controlled substances by telehealth without a careful evaluation, and we make that clear up front. There's nothing to install — visits run in your browser.
The concerns that come up most often from the Dallas side of the practice are adult depression and persistent low mood, generalized anxiety and panic, adult ADHD (often noticed late in someone whose career success masked it for years), insomnia tied to stress and shift work, postpartum depression, and trauma-related symptoms.
We provide thoughtful evaluation and medication management for these conditions; we do not provide standalone ongoing therapy, and we will be straightforward about referring you to a Dallas-based therapist or higher level of care if that is what you actually need. No medication is prescribed without a clinical evaluation, treatment recommendations are made only after clinical evaluation, and no specific medication is guaranteed. Telehealth visits require that you be physically located in Texas at the time of the visit.
Dallas-specific logistics come up often. Most appointments are by secure telehealth, but for patients who prefer an in-person initial evaluation our Southlake office is roughly a 35-to-45 minute drive from most of central Dallas depending on the time of day — closer from North Dallas, Plano-adjacent neighborhoods, and the Tollway corridor; longer from Lakewood, Oak Cliff, or downtown during rush hour.
Parking at the Southlake office is straightforward and free. Visit length runs about an hour for an initial evaluation, so we recommend planning for 90 minutes door to door if you intend to come in. For ongoing follow-ups, telehealth is almost always the right answer for Dallas patients — there is no clinical reason to spend two hours on the road for a 30-minute medication review when a secure video visit accomplishes the same thing. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 7 PM, by appointment only.

Treatment recommendations — including any decision about controlled substances such as stimulant medications — are made only after a clinical evaluation. No specific medication is guaranteed, and we will explain what is and is not appropriate by telehealth at your visit.
