Accessibility statement

Last Updated: August 4, 2026

SLS Psychiatry is committed to making our website accessible to people of all abilities, including patients who use assistive technology. We believe that the information on this site should be easy to find, easy to read, and easy to act on — whether you are visiting from a desktop, a phone, a screen reader, or any other device.

Our standard

We aim to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor, speech, and cognitive differences. Conforming with WCAG also makes the site easier to use for everyone.

What we've done

  • Keyboard navigation: All pages, menus, links, and forms are operable using a keyboard alone — no mouse required.
  • Semantic structure: Headings, lists, landmarks, and labels are used so that screen readers can announce page structure clearly.
  • Descriptive alt text: Photos and illustrative images include meaningful alternative text. Decorative images are marked so that screen readers skip them.
  • Color and contrast: Text and interactive elements meet WCAG contrast targets against their backgrounds.
  • Resizable text: Pages reflow cleanly when zoomed up to 200% in your browser without losing content or functionality.
  • Visible focus: Interactive elements show a clear focus ring when navigated by keyboard.
  • Reduced motion: Animations respect the operating-system prefers-reduced-motion setting.
  • Plain-language content: Clinical and policy information is written for a general adult reading audience and avoids unnecessary jargon.

Known limitations

We are working continuously to improve accessibility, and we know that some content may still fall short of our standard. Areas we are actively reviewing include third-party embeds (such as the online scheduling tool and the embedded map on our Contact page), which are provided by external services and may not match our internal accessibility standards in every detail.

Telling us about a barrier

If you encounter a page, feature, or piece of content on this website that is difficult to use, or if you need information from this site provided in a different format, please contact us. We take accessibility feedback seriously and will work with you to provide the information or service you need by the most appropriate alternative method.
