A personal path to compassionate care

Dr. Rana Kaleemullah — known to her patients as Dr. K — founded SLS Psychiatry to offer adult psychiatric care that feels thoughtful, private, and deeply personal.

A personal path to compassionate care

From an early age, Dr. K felt drawn to understanding the invisible wounds so many people carry. Growing up in New Orleans, she witnessed firsthand the emotional toll of Hurricane Katrina — an experience that deepened her commitment to mental health care and shaped the kind of psychiatrist she would become.

She pursued her studies at Loyola University, trained at Tulane Behavioral Health, and broadened her clinical perspective in Toronto’s culturally diverse medical community. Each step reinforced an integrative, patient-focused philosophy rooted in empathy and respect for every person’s story.

After two years of telepsychiatry serving patients in Texas and New York, Dr. K founded SLS Psychiatry to build the kind of practice she always envisioned — one where each patient is met with patience, real curiosity, and a commitment to careful, evidence-based care. She is now fully dedicated to providing in-person and telehealth support in the Southlake area.

Training and clinical perspective

Dr. K is a board-certified psychiatrist whose training spans Loyola University, Tulane Behavioral Health, and clinical work in Toronto’s diverse medical community. These experiences gave her a wide-ranging perspective on how culture, environment, and personal history shape mental health.

She tailors each treatment plan with genuine listening at its core — drawing on current psychiatric literature, evidence-based methods, and practical coping strategies. Her clinical perspective emphasizes careful diagnosis, thoughtful medication decisions, ongoing monitoring, and respect for shared decision-making at every step.

At SLS Psychiatry, Dr. K combines heartfelt, traditional care with forward-thinking strategies so that no one feels rushed or overlooked. She honors every patient’s story — using open dialogue, clinical expertise, and a collaborative approach to address anxiety, depression, trauma, and more.

What patients can expect

  • A careful first visit: Initial psychiatric evaluations are 60–75 minutes — long enough to review your psychiatric history, current concerns, goals, medication history, and safety considerations.
  • Shared decision-making: Treatment options — including medication when appropriate — are discussed openly, weighing benefits, risks, side effects, and your preferences.
  • Ongoing follow-up: Follow-up appointments are 20–50 minutes for medication monitoring, progress reviews, and adjustments as your needs evolve.

Conditions treated

Dr. K cares for adults navigating a wide range of psychiatric concerns, including:

  • Depression and mood disorders
  • Anxiety and panic symptoms
  • PTSD and trauma-related symptoms
  • Adult ADHD and cognitive concerns
  • Bipolar and mood symptoms
  • OCD
  • Postpartum depression and anxiety
  • Women’s mental health
  • Sleep concerns and insomnia
  • Adjustment-related concerns
  • Substance use and co-occurring concerns

In-person and telehealth care

Dr. K sees patients in person at the SLS Psychiatry office at 305 Miron Drive in Southlake, Texas. For patients who prefer or need remote care, she also offers secure telehealth appointments for anyone physically located in Texas at the time of the visit.

SLS Psychiatry sees adults 18 and older. The practice provides psychiatric evaluation and medication management; it does not provide ongoing standalone therapy.
