Our care model

A deliberate, thorough, and evidence-based approach to adult psychiatry.

The importance of the evaluation

Everything begins with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. We dedicate 60 to 75 minutes to your initial visit to ensure we have the time to listen to your story, understand the context of your symptoms, and review your medical history.

An accurate diagnosis is the cornerstone of effective care. We do not rush this process.

Medication management philosophy

When medication is indicated, our approach is conservative and tailored to you. We emphasize:

  • Careful selection based on evidence and your unique profile
  • Starting at low doses and adjusting gradually
  • Close monitoring of efficacy and potential side effects
  • Clear communication about what to expect

Treatment recommendations are made only after clinical evaluation, and no specific medication is guaranteed. No medication is prescribed without a clinical evaluation.

Beyond the prescription

While we specialize in medication management, we recognize that pills alone rarely provide a complete solution.

Psychoeducation: We spend time during appointments explaining your condition and how treatments work.

Lifestyle factors: We routinely discuss sleep, nutrition, exercise, and stress management as critical components of mental health.

Collaborative care: We provide careful psychiatric evaluation and medication management, but do not provide ongoing standalone therapy. However, we frequently coordinate with primary care physicians and refer to specialized therapists to ensure you have a robust support system.

What to expect at your first visit

  • 60–75 minutes set aside — we block enough time so the first visit is never rushed.
  • Your story, in your words — we review your history, current concerns, goals, and what previous care has or hasn’t worked.
  • An open conversation — questions are welcome; we explain what we’re observing as we go.
  • A careful clinical assessment — symptoms, medical history, medications, sleep, lifestyle, substance use, and safety are all considered.
  • A discussion of options — if medication may help, we walk through benefits, risks, side effects, and reasonable alternatives.
  • A clear next step — you leave with a personalized plan and a follow-up cadence that fits where you are right now.
